About Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios is a resort town on the north coast of Jamaica, in the parish of St. Ann. Ocho Rios, translated from Spanish, means 'eight rivers', but it is also thought that the name is a version of 'las chorreras' since there are beautiful waterfalls in the area. Ocho Rios is famous for attractions such as its beaches, Dunn's River Falls, gardens and eco-adventure tours. The town's accommodation options include all-inclusive hotels which are popular among tourists and also as conference venues.

The town is accessible from airports in Montego Bay (MBJ) and Kingston (KIN) via airport transfers (1.5 - 2 hours by road).

Visa Information

All visitors coming to Jamaica should ensure that they travel with a valid passport or visa (if required). Most Commonwealth Nationals will not require a visa, with the exception of nationals from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Cayman Islands, Nigeria and the British Virgin Islands who will need a visa.

All visitors to Jamaica must have a return ticket and be able to show sufficient funds for their visit.

Getting to Ocho Rios

The award winning Sangster International Airport is major hub for the Caribbean with direct and charter flights from over 60 major gateways and cities across North America, Europe and South America. This is the primary point of entry for most tourists. In addition to international terminals, this airport has a domestic terminal with local flights that depart regularly to Kingston, Negril, Port Antonio and Ocho Rios. Taxis, hotel shuttles and car rental companies are available to assist visitors in getting to their final destinations.
